The purpose of this book is to expose the reader to a variety of tools and techniques currently being used for extracting information from signals generated by NDE transducers. The text begins with introductory material describing a variety of non-destructive testing techniques and the special characteristics of the signals associated with each of them. The next two chapters focus on an introduction to the topics of digital signal processing and pattern recognition. The following chapters include detailed discussion on techniques used for solving the inverse problem relative to each of the major NDE techniques. It should be of interest not only to graduate students and senior undergraduates pursuing a course on the subject, but also the practitioners of the art in the field. It should also appeal to researchers attempting to broaden their knowledge and the problems contained at the end of each chapter enable it to be used as a textbook. This book should be of interest to course text for senior undergraduates/graduates engineers taking NDE options, researchers/NDE Practitioners, post-experience centres.
