This book comprises the select peer-reviewed proceedings of the International Conference on Hydro and Renewable Energy (ICHRE 2022). It aims to provide a comprehensive and broad-spectrum picture of the state-of-the-art research and development in the area of renewable energy technologies, grid integration challenges and opportunities, negative emission technologies, role of distributed energy resources in net zero energy carbon systems, role of hydro energy and pumped storage hydro in power sector decarbonization, policies, and regulations in achieving net zero carbon energy systems, among others. This book provides a valuable resource for those in academia and industry working in the fields of renewable energy, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, among others.

Dr. Bri-Mathias Hodge is Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering and Associate Director and Fellow of the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI) at the University of Colorado Boulder, USA. He is also Chief Scientist and Distinguished Member of the Research Staff at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). His research focuses on the modeling and simulation of power and energy systems with an emphasis on the operational and planning challenges posed by the integration of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power. He is Author of over 100 journal articles in this area. At NREL, he has received Outstanding Mentor Awards on five occasions, the NREL President's Award in 2016, the NREL Outstanding Performance Award and Director's Publication Impact Award in 2019, and the NREL Chairman's Award in 2020. He also received Fulbright Fellowship in 2016 for a sabbatical at VTT in Finland.

Sanjeev Kumar Prajapati is working as Assistant Professor in the Hydro and Renewable Energy Department at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, INDIA.  He has more than 10 years of teaching and research experience in renewable energy and related areas. He has published more than 45 research papers in various SCI journals of high international repute including applied energy, fuel, resource conservation and recycling, nature-scientific report and green chemistry, etc.  Besides, he has played the role of managing guest editor for three prestigious special issues and reviewer for various SCI journals. For his outstanding research contribution, he has been awarded prestigious awards including Outstanding Young Faculty Award for the year (2023), Excellence in Academic Research (2021), Distinction in Doctoral Research (2016), Early Career Research Award (2016), Bioenergy-Awards for Cutting Edge Research (B_ACER) 2016, and CSIR-Pool Scientist (2014).
