OpenFOAM software and its growing popularity is attributed to the scope of customization for specific applications and large scale parallel simulations. This open source software is widely used in aerospace community and its popularity is increasing at a rapid pace. Introduction to OpenFOAM for Aeronautical Engineers covers aerospace CFD which includes turbulence modelling, external aerodynamics, compressible flows, sprays and combustion from the OpenFOAM usage perspective. The book provides adequate examples covering most of the aspects of CFD code and enables readers to carry out their own modifications. Additionally, modification of existing solvers and utilities to implement new models as well as tips and tricks related to solvers used in aeronautical applications are included. Lastly, a short introduction to Linux and C++ is provided along with references to other easily available sources.

Introduction to OpenFOAM for Aeronautical Engineers is for aerospace researchers, engineers, students as well as those who have been using commercial CFD packages and want to explore OpenFOAM.

Dr. Mukhopadhyay is currently working as Assistant professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur. He earned his PhD in Combustion Technology from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands working on a project in collaboration with Rolls Royce Aero Engines, Berlin and Siemens, Orlando. He has postdoctoral experience at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands and around 7+ years of industrial experience prior to PhD in using CFD and FEA simulations for various MNCs (including Fortune500 companies) across the world. The wide experience is backed by excellent communication skills (IELTS certification band 8). The author has extensive hands on OpenFOAM experience and is currently guiding students for academic as well as industrial CFD projects using OpenFOAM.
