Creating realistic characters and seamless animation are must-have skills for today's film and game developers, and 3ds max X Photorealistic Character Animation teaches these skills through the creation of a character-filled, action-packed game trailer. The book takes readers through the entire creation process of the game trailer for a hypothetical game, St. George the Dragon Slayer and the Trolls. The tutorials progress from the beginning of the story concept stage all the way through to the creation and animation of the characters. The first half of the book deals with construction and set up of each of the characters and their environments. The second half delves into animation, and wraps up with a completed game trailer, sound and all. In addition, the book's companion DVD provides all of the 3ds max character studio[registered] and combustion[registered] tutorial files, models, images, figures, textures, texture maps, dialog, sound effects, and finished animations from the book.

Sanford Kennedy (Los Angeles, CA), is an author, animator, and designer. He has worked in Hollywood special effects since 1977, and computer animation since 1994.
