Safe Trajectory Planning for Maritime Surface Ships (eBook)
XV, 185 Seiten
Springer-Verlag
978-3-030-97715-3 (ISBN)
This book offers a comprehensive review of collision avoidance techniques and safe trajectory planning for manned and unmanned ships, together with extensive information on how to develop and implement algorithms for applications in real-world settings. It describes the most relevant decision-support systems and guidance systems used in the control of marine craft, giving a special emphasis to autonomous vehicles, but also covering manned ones. Thanks to its good balance of theory and practice, and the inclusion of basic explanations of all essential concepts, this book fills an important gap in the literature of marine navigation, providing not only researchers and practitioners with a timely reference guide to safe trajectory planning, but also supporting students and newcomers to the field.
Agnieszka Lazarowska received her B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering, from Gdynia Maritime University (Poland), in 2007, 2008 and 2015, respectively. Since 2015, she has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ship Automation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Gdynia Maritime University. With more than ten years' experience in the development of collision avoidance and path planning algorithms for ships and autonomous vehicles, her research covers guidance systems, decision support systems and path planning algorithms for autonomous navigation, as well as deterministic and nondeterministic optimization methods, artificial and swarm intelligence-based methods for safe navigation of unmanned and autonomous ships, and other autonomous vehicles. In 2018-2019, she was a research coordinator and principal investigator of the project Research on New Obstacle Avoidance Algorithms for Ships (NOAA) founded by the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) and the Nippon Foundation, Japan. She has been teaching courses on control theory, digital circuits and microcontroller programming.
