The manuals in this series introduce today's professional users and students to the basics of software applications, while showing them how they can successfully be applied at home, school, and in the business world. This text deals with Word 97.
Building on the success of the MTS Office 95 manuals, Ed Martin and Charlie Parker have written a fully integrated application manual that covers the new release of Microsoft Office 97. These new manuals continue the quality presentation of the MTS series with several additional features designed to capitalise on the advantages provided by the Office suite. This includes integrated exercises that ask the student to share data between applications, as well as Mastery Sets to enhance modular learning. The entire product is also presented in the same appealing and functional 4-colour design that is supported with a state-of-the-art multimedia program. The end result is the highest quality, student oriented, software manual for introductory applications courses. Features: * Customization--The entire MTS series is set up as part of custom publishing program which allows the customer to choose any combination of product along with binding and packaging preferences. * Numerous exercises and cases--Each chapter contains numerous exercises that reinforce the functions just presented in that chapter.
* Mastery Cases--Each chapter concludes with three new mastery cases that cover school, business, and home applications. These open-ended cases challenge students to solve a problem from scratch rather than follow step-by-step instructions. * Extensive Reference guides and Key-stroking summaries--The MTS manuals contain extensive appendices on key-stroke functions, reference guides, and command summaries. These allow the students easy referral to already learned material and provide useful tools after the course is completed. * As your skills increase, the "click this item" approach slowly gives way to a less detailed list of goals and operations, so that you do not mindlessly follow steps, but truly master software skills. * Each chapter contains numerous short tips in bold type at strategic points to provide hints, warnings, or insights. * Checkpoints appear at the end of each major section to test your mastery of the material. * Expanded coverage of OLE 2.0 and data sharing. * Full 4-colour--For the first time in this market a manual has been designed to use colour as a tool for presenting specific features and content and not just for flash.
The colour-coding gives the students an advantage in following step-by-step procedures, differentiating alternative methods for the same function, and obtaining tips on using software. * "What's New" sections open each application and give a brief synopsis of the changes in the new software release. * Integrate Exercises--Each application contains exercises that require the interaction with other applications and takes advantage of the new features in Office '95. NEW FEATURES: * New design that allows each set of skills to be taught in sequence of in any order desired. * New sections on Internet access and document publication. * New Mastery Sets on automatic templates and wizards. * All sample files available on Dryden's Web site.
