This thesis is about a wireless communication systems in a niche, which is data transmission over highly time- variant, frequency selective channels. The system has to be resilient against jamming and requires a power-efficient modulation scheme which can be used with non-linear transmit power amplifiers. The optimum incoherent block detector uses average channel state information of the Ricean WSSUS fading channel. It is extended towards DSSS CPM and predicts, in every time instant and state transition of a Viterbi algorithm, the next receive sample from previous ones given the hypothesis about the transmitted bits.
In contrast to classic systems, the detector does not suffer from increased fast fading due to larger spreading factors. Only then, the benefits of spread spectrum communication can be maintained over doubly selective channels.
