This book comprises select proceedings of the National Conference on Control, Signal Processing, Energy and Power Systems (CSPES 2018). The book covers topics on both theoretical control systems and their applications across engineering domains such as automatic control, robotics, and  adaptive controller design. It discusses several signal processing domains such as image, speech, biomedical signal processing and their applications in IOT, control, robotics, power and energy systems. The book emphasizes both conventional and non-conventional energy, environment, and green processes as related to energy and power systems engineering. The contents of this book will prove to be useful for students, researchers, academics, and professionals.

Dr. Tapan Kumar Basu received his B.Tech and M. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1968 and 1970, respectively and his PhD from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi. He has been a faculty member at NIT Kurukshetra, IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur. After retirement, he worked as Dean of Aliah University, Kolkata, Director of ITME. He was also a senior professor in the Academy of Technology (AOT) Adisaptagram. Currently, he acts as an advisor to the Speech and Image Processing Group of CDAC (Centre for Development of Advance Computing), Kolkata. He has guided 13 doctoral students and several M.Tech students in the areas of power system stability and forecasting, signal and image processing, and speech processing. He has also taught a large number of subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate level during his long teaching career. He has developed two video courses on networks, signals and systems, and digital signal processing under National Project for Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL ). He has published more than 150 papers in several national and international journals and conferences. He is a Life Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (I), System Society of India and Indian Society for Theoretical and Applied Mathematics.

Dr. Swapan Kumar Goswami received his Bachelors in electrical engineering in 1980 from Tripura Engineering College. He completed his Masters and PhD in 1982 and in 1991, respectively from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Currently, he is Professor of Electrical Engineering, Jadavpur University.  He has published more than 100 research papers. His research interests include power system analysis, optimization, distribution system, restructuring and smart grid, distribution planning, analysis and automation, optimum operation and planning of power system, AI applications deregulation development of an OPF based power system simulator. He has also supervised several doctoral students.

Dr. Nandita Sanyal obtained her Bachelors in Electrical Engineering in 1993. She worked as Development Officer and subsequently Senior Officer Quality Control in ESAB India Limited, where she was engaged in design and development of welding transformers and rectifiers using power electronic converters. She completed her Masters in Measurement and Instrumentation, and PhD in 2003 and 2015, respectively from Jadavpur University. Her research topic is development of image processing algorithm using bacterial foraging optimization. She is presently Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, B. P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology, Kolkata. She has published research papers in international journals and has contributed a book chapter in 'Computational Intelligence in Image Processing'. She is a consultant for small scale industries. She is also an Executive Committee member of IEEE CSS IMS joint chapter Kolkata Section.
