Rodrigo Costa-Felix has a graduation degree in Mechanical Engineering (1995), master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in Psychoacoustic (1996) and doctor's degree in Biomedical Engineering (2005) with emphasis on Ultrasound Metrology. He is a researcher in Metrology and Quality working at Inmetro, acting as the head of the Ultrasound Laboratory since 2008. Rodrigo is a professor at the Postgraduate Program in Metrology and Quality (2009-present) and the Post-Graduate Program in Biotechnology (2013-present), both belonging to Inmetro. He is presently the Coordinator of Inmetro's Post-Graduate Program in Biotechnology. He has been a full member of the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering (SBEB) since 2006, in which he served as Secretary (2006-2008), Treasurer (2009-2010), SBEB Board Member (2013-2014), Vice-President (2015-2016) and Secretary (2017-2018). He is a Member of the Brazilian Society of Metrology (SBM) since 2014, of which he worked a member of the Financial Council (2014-2015) and currently he is Vice-President (2016-2018). He has been working on standardization since 1997, working on the elaboration of more than 35 national and 25 international technical standards. Rodrigo has authored or co-authored more than 50 papers in peer reviewed journals and 90 papers in conferences. He is also the inventor of three patents.

João C. Machado received his B. Sc. degree in electronic engineering, in 1976, from the Engineering School and his M. Sc. degree, in 1977, in biomedical engineering from COPPE, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. From 1979 to 1983 he was a Research Assistant in the Electrical Engineering Department at University of Washington, Seattle, USA, where he also received his Ph. D. degree. Since 1983 he joined the faculty of the Biomedical Engineering Program at COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, becoming a professor and responsible for the courses and research related to ultrasound applied to medicine and biology. From October/1991 to September/1993 he acted as the chairman of the Biomedical Engineering Program. He was a visiting scientist at the Department of Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto, Canada (1996-1997). Since 2007 he joined the Post-Graduation Program in Surgical Sciences at the Department of Surgery of the Medical School from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He has been a full member of the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering (SBEB) since 1975, in which he served as Secretary (1985-1987). His is also a Member of the IEEE/Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, Society, since 1988. He has been acting as a peer-reviewer for IEEE/Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, IEEE/Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, Physics in Medicine and Biology, Ultrasonics and Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology. So far he supervised 32 undergraduate students as scientific initiation, 6 final projects of undergraduate students in electronic engineering, 44 MSc dissertations, 15 PhD thesis and 4 postdoctoral fellows. His current research interests are ultrasonic characterization of tissue and of the blood clotting process. Also, he conducts research related to ultrasound microscanning applied to small animal models of colon inflammation and tumors, to follow-up the repair of lacerated skeletal muscle and to map cerebral blood flow after stroke.

André Victor Alvarenga has a graduation degree in electrical engineer (1995), master's degree in biomedical  engineering (1999), doctor's degree in biomedical engineering (2005) with emphasis on Ultrasound.
