Jay Bhatt serves as the first Chief Health Officer at the Illinois Hospital Association. In this role he helps the 200 hospitals and 50 health systems transform, achieve the quadruple aim, and be positioned to succeed in this era of health system change. He also drives data driven analytics approaches to help members identify insights to improve quality, safety, and accelerate clinical transformation. Most recently, he was Managing Deputy Commissioner and Chief Innovation Officer for the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH). There he lead the implementation of innovations in cross-sector partnerships, predictive analytics, chronic disease reduction initiatives and informatics earning numerous national recognition. He is considered a national thought leader in the area of analytics, public health, and innovation. He also is a practicing internal medicine physician for Erie Family Health Center in Chicago serving vulnerable populations and is a member of the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern faculty. He is appointed member of federal and state advisory bodies including HHS, CDC, and IOM. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1999 with a degree in Economics. In 2008, Dr. Bhatt received both his medical degree from the PCOM, and his Master in Public Health degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health.
