The Weekend Crash Course meets the needs of administrators (and others) who have little or no knowledge of the Red Hat Linux operating system or Linux and must learn how they work quickly. This "beginner" audience includes individuals who are migrating from Windows to Linux. This text consists of 30 sessions that teach the core concepts of the Red Hat Linux distribution over a weekend. Coverage crosses a broad range of topics, including: installing Linux; troubleshooting the installation; configuring the X Windows System; multimedia applications; monitoring system performance; and maintaining system security. In response to reviews, this revision scales down the coverage of installation and incorporates two new sessions: "Red Hat Linux Network" and "Learning More Linux and Bash Commands". In addition, troubleshooting sections are added at the end of most sesssions that explain common problems that arise. The skill assessment software on the CD-ROM helps readers gage their skill level before and after reading this text.
