Learn how to create and manage Access databases from start to finish.
This book is a hands-on tutorial for Access users who want to learn Access by working through solid examples. It will show the reader how to use Access and how to develop solid databases from start to finish. The focus of the book will be Access databases on the desktop but will have two chapters on implementing Access in a networked or client/server environment.

Key topics include understanding relational databases and the Access 2002 architecture; designing, building, and maintaining full-feature, robust database applications; implementing Data Access Pages; working with Visual Basic for Applications and the Visual Basic Editor; and publishing Access content to the WWW or a company's intranet.

Paul Cassel started using computers by converting accounting systems to automated ones back in the mainframe days of yore. When minis such as the DEC PDP series made computing more accessible, he moved to that platform. His first PC database experience came in the early days of personal computing with dBASE II and the BASIC language on the first IBM PCs. His experience with Access goes back to the first version. He has been recognized by Microsoft with several MVPs for Access, Windows, and Visual Basic and by Borland (Inprise) as a TeamB member. He has taught computers and computing concepts to students at the University of New Mexico. He has written over a dozen books and published hundreds of articles. His database consulting business is based in New Mexico and includes such clients as the Department of the Navy, University Hospital, University of New Mexico, New Mexico Tech, AMREP, Lovelace Health Systems, the New Mexico State Bar Association, the State of New Mexico Finance Division, the Zuni Nation, and the Jicarilla Apache Nation, plus many others. He is also the chief information officer for a series of community health centers in northern New Mexico. Craig Eddy resides in San Jose, California with his wife, two children, a dog, and a cat. A devout fan of Virginia Tech football, Craig graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He is currently a Senior Software Engineer for Peregrine Systems. He came to Peregrine via its acquisition of Remedy Corporation and Remedy's acquisition of Pipestream Technologies, which he helped to found. Craig's expertise lies in the areas of C++, Web development, and database design. Craig's hobbies include reading, cycling, leading a Cub Scout den, and helping his kids in their current sport-du-jour.
