Addressing a broad range of big data analytics in cross-disciplinary applications, this essential handbook focuses on the statistical prospects offered by recent developments in this field. The book is primarily intended for statisticians, computer experts, engineers and application developers interested in using big data analytics with statistics. Wolfgang Karl Härdle is a Professor of Statistics at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Director of CASE the Centre for Applied Statistics and Economics. He teaches quantitative finance and semi-parametric statistical methods. His research focuses on dynamic factor models, multivariate statistics in finance and computational statistics. He is an elected member of the ISI and an advisor to the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University and to National Central University, Taiwan.

Henry Horng-Shing Lu is a Professor at the National Chiao Tung University's Institute of Statistics in Taiwan. He is also the Chairman of the University's Interdisciplinary Sciences Degree Program in the College of Science. His research interests are in the field of interdisciplinary studies related to statistics, medical images and bioinformatics.
