Many companies are running on a mixture of UNIX and NT. This book discusses the means of migrating UNIX applications to Windows NT and integrating NT and UNIX in a mixed server environment.
Today's system administrators and information management professionals find that they must be familiar with both UNIX and Windows NT and capable of managing their interaction and coexistence. Williams and Gardner's book focuses on the three specific areas of interaction administrators must understand to be successful: coexistence, in which UNIX and Windows NT cooperate and have common methods of maintenance; integration, referring to true operating systems interoperability; and migration, primarily the movement from UNIX to Windows NT.

G. Robert Williams, Ph.D., is the CEO of Manakoa Services Corporation. He is the coauthor of The Ultimate Windows 2000 System Administrator's Guide (Addison-Wesley, 2000) and Windows NT and UNIX (Addison-Wesley, 1998), in addition to being a regular contributor to Computer World, ITWorld.com, Windows Advantage, and Windows NT/2000 Magazine. Bob has been named a Microsoft Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the field of security. Ellen Beck Gardner, an authority on the UNIX operating system, first learned Windows NT the hard way by incorporating it into a UNIX environment without a resource such as this book. Currently, she is an independent consultant specializing in both the training and troubleshooting of UNIX and Windows NT operating systems. She previously was a senior vice president at Decathlon Data Systems, Inc., and a manager at NCR Corporation. 0201185369AB02012005
