Windows 8 introduces a new type of Microsoft application: the Windows Store app. Formerly called a "Metro" and "Modern UI Style" app, the Windows Store apps will be the focal point of the user experience on Windows 8. Author James Sugrue will walk readers through the fundamentals of building Windows Store apps, from picking which language to use' JavaScript, Visual Basic, Visual C#, or Visual C ' and designing the UX to deploying the app. Along the way you'll learn how to build the user interface, localize the app, and debug it.

James Sugrue is based in New Zealand and has been programming since he was 8 years old, when he starting writing games in Basic on his brothers Amstrad CPC 464. He wrote his first commercial software at the age of 15 and has written programs for Windows, Windows Mobile, Linux, Palm, and iOS. In 2009, he founded the development company SoftwareX, which has written more than 30 apps for companies from around the world. When not writing code, James writes for PCW orld in New Zealand, including a monthly programming column.
