Now with twenty five percent more entries, double the number of illustrations, and an updated and extensive bibliography, this Second Edition of the seminal Clinical Trials Dictionary goes well beyond general medical dictionaries in representing the large and complex vocabulary needed to describe the methods and results of clinical trials. It provides a thorough index to the entries of its main section--facilitating the findings of terms associated with particular concepts and practical steps in trials; over 300 new "usage notes"; and biographical notes on prominent historical personalities and institutions.

CURTIS L. MEINERT, PhD, is Professor in the Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he served as founder of the Johns Hopkins Center for Clinical Trials. He is a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Heart Association, and the Society for Clinical Trials. Dr. Meinert has focused his research on the methodological issues in clinical trials, including their design, conduct, policy, and practice. He is the author of Clinical Trials Handbook: Design and Conduct (Wiley).
