Aims to provide a balanced perspective of the concept, mathematical bases, requirements for estimation, and quantitative examples of the implementation of the techniques for classical signal analysis. This book features practical examples, homework exercises which range from pencil and paper format to computer-based format problems.
This book provides a balanced perspective of the concept, mathematical bases, requirements for estimation, and detailed quantitative examples of the implementation of the techniques for classical signal analysis. The presentation integrates theory and implementation, practical examples, homework exercises which range from pencil and paper format to computer-based format problems, to instructional notebooks. The notebooks provide a mode of learning that is interactive and suited for self-pacing and independent learning. It features: "real-world" applications; real data available for exercises and projects; notebooks for interactive learning; graphical explanation of concepts; exercises emphasizing concepts; and, CD-ROM with MATLAB implementation.

Richard Shiavi is Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Professor of Electrical Engineering, actively engaged in teaching and research at Vanderbilt University and the Veterans Administration Medical Center. His main professional interests are in signal processing and main research interests are in bioelectric signal processing and signal measurement. Dr. Shiavi has been an active member of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) and is presently an Associate Editor for the Transactions on Biomedical Engineering. He is also an active member and past President of the International Society of Electrophysiology and Kinesiology. Joseph Bronzino is one of the most renowned biomedical engineers in the world. He is a former president of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology, and well-known educator. He is editor-in-chief of the Biomedical Engineering Handbook from CRC Press, and is currently editor of the Academic Press Series in Biomedical Engineering. He is the Vernon Roosa Professor of Applied Science at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
