RNA interference, is written by leading researchers in the field, covers selection of siRNA, screening for the active molecules, general considerations in introducing chemical modifications, as well as discussing formulations used to deliver siRNA and applications of RNAi in many exciting therapeutic areas.

Dr Tatiana Novobrantseva's current position is Principal Scientist. She is an immunologist by training, with heavy emphasis on genetic in vivo models, she has a Ph.D. from the University of Cologne with Dr Klaus Rajewsky, Postdoc at Harvard Medical School. She worked at Biogen Idec for around 3.5 years: studied lymphocyte migration in autoimmunity, BAFF signalling and role of leukocytes in fibrosis. For the last four years Dr Novobrantseva has worked on RNA interference with particular emphasis on discovering new delivery vehicles that can transform this exiting discovery into a novel class of therapeutics. Meena is a chemist and, in the book, writes on chemical structures and modifications used to make nucleic acid drugs. Pei Ge is a neurobiologist, and covers progress on RNA therapeutics in the nervous system. Greg Hinkle is a bioinformatician, who - in the book - covers sequence selection of siRNA drugs and all the associated specificity aspects.

Biology and history of RNAi; Ways of introducing RNAi into mammalian cells; Designing potent and specific synthetic siRNA; Chemistry of siRNA molecules; Issue of delivery; Delivery methods; Clinical application of siRNA.
