Windows Essential Business Server (WEBS) is Microsoft's new integrated suite of server products for the mid-market. First released in January of 2009, it is aimed at organizations with up to 300 seats. Previously, Microsoft had provided Small Business Server to fill this niche; however, many customers have complained that it's not robust enough. Companies will need a reliable core resource to support installation and day-to-day operations. Microsoft Windows Essential Business Server Unleashed is that resource. Written by expert authors with 20+ years of experience with Windows technologies, this book brings together all the techniques and insights IT professionals and serious power users will need to succeed with WEBS. You will discover how to integrate WEBS with additional technologies such as SharePoint Services; how to perform day-to-day administration tasks such as backup/restore; and how to centrally manage WEBS users with group policy. Each section presents essential concepts, tools, and detailed procedures, in the context of real-world business environments and deployment scenarios. While WEBS is pre-configured to support many typical requirements, the authors also show how to customize it where that would be beneficial.
