A sequel to the three parts of "Henry VI" in which Shakespeare dramatised the Wars of the Roses. In writing the play, Shakespeare saw something behind the events of history, for this work, though partly a dramatisation of history, is also a comment on it and an understanding of its significance.
"Richard III" is sequel to the three parts of "Henry VI" in which Shakespeare dramatised the Wars of the Roses. In writing the play, Shakespeare saw something behind the events of history, for "Richard III", though partly a straight dramatisation of history, is also a comment on it and an understanding of its significance.

William Shakespeare is widely regarded as the greatest playwright the world has seen. He produced an astonishing amount of work; 37 plays, 154 sonnets, and 5 poems. He died on 23rd April 1616, aged 52, and was buried in the Holy Trinity Church, Stratford.
