Rainbow Punch is a lockdown legacy like no other. An anthology of mixed-genre writings from nineteen women, with each piece paired with an evocative illustration from one of six talented female artists. Drawing rainbows became a global phenomenon throughout the pandemic, and this sign of hope unites each piece within this anthology. Rainbow Punch showcases a comprehensive collection of perspectives spanning twelve different countries, from the experiences of motherhood across a spectrum of ages to the lives of dedicated, front-line healthcare workers, bereaved friends and lockdown-induced fantastical imaginings. This book is a spectacular tribute to our tenacity in difficult times and documents a landmark moment in shared global culture.
Lauren Hayhurst is a creative writer, lecturer and narrative designer. She had baby Alicia two weeks before the UK first went into lockdown in March 2020. As a way to survive an isolated maternity leave, she created a lit-mag - Lockdown BabyBabble - which collected poetry, fiction and non-fiction on caregiving during the pandemic. Rainbow Punch is Lauren’s way of leaving a creative artefact for Alicia and all other children born in this time to show that strength and compassion will always prosper in the face of adversity.
