In 'DNA Bust' a romance of a police detective who hunts the robbers with the help of a doctor using DNA from the suspects.
The robbers use gel to make their cheeks appear bigger, using fake facial hair on the eyebrows, dying the hair, and learning and rehearsing British accent when speaking is part of the costumes to rob the stores. They only assault jewelry shops. Each member of the band also holds a regular job to sustain themselves while waiting for the cooling period after the heist and sell the loot. A girl who helps with moral principles to one of the robbers.

The Very First Project

The very first robbery was carried out only by Ron and Brat themselves. It was a successful hit because the loot brought them an amount of profit quite good in proportion to the time, they spent planning and executing the job, apart from the amount of the stolen goods.

It was a small town along the bay with a small marina, which gave Ron the option to dock a small boat. Ron had monitored the place for over three months to learn everything about the routine and choose the best time to carry on the heist. Through his watch he learned the best day for the job was Tuesday, with the ideal time just before noon. The store had two full time employees and two part time assistants. Ron had learned on Tuesday mornings the store had only two employees. There were no security guards posted outside the small Ark Row Shopping Center complex.

Ron walked in and asked one of the employees to show him a few stones, then he inquired some details about the gems, while the staff member was explaining, Brat walked in and ask the other employee to show him a few rings that were locked in a different case. While Brat waited for the employee to open the case and take out some of the diamond rings, Ron pulled a small gun and pointed to the employee ordering to give him the jewels. Brat played to be a casual client who had nothing to do with the robbery. He tried to leave and went to the front door, but Ron yelled: do not move or you are a dead man! Brat pretended to be very nervous.

Ron continued with a command in a strong voice-In fact you take the rest of the jewels and then tie down the employees. Brat obeyed and there was no resistant from the employees. Brat had dark sunglasses and a hat. Then Ron ordered Brat to clip wires, take the video recording camera, and put it with the stolen gems, soon after, Ron pointed with the small gun the door, indicating Brat to leave. Ron exited after Brat, both men walked out of the store named Excellent Jewelry with the loot and the recording video of surveillance system.

They were able to leave the crime scene without being follow or chased. Despite their choice of transportation for getting away. Ron and Brat used couple old basic bicycles to escape from the store to the boat docks. Once there, they walked the bikes and load them on the boat acting very calm. Then proceed to leave the docks area in Tiburon keeping the compose while observing if anyone was coming on the streets after them. There were no police vehicles, no sirens or other vehicles arriving at the marina looking for them. Brat and Ron bragged about how things worked out, they kept the story just between themselves. They told to each other, in a very arrogant way, the account of the event, they grew egotistical every-time they repeated details of the robbery.

That was their conclusion of the first project, after few weeks it was label a “success” because they never felt under police surveillance, and law enforcement officers never questioned either one. They had enough profit to pay off the charter boat.

‘I have a question,’ said Jack Wayne.

Miller said, ‘yes, go ahead.’

Jack Wayne: ‘where did they get the boat?’

Miller: ‘Ah yes, the boat. Ok, let me continue.’

Two months before the heist the search for the boat was conducted by Ron and Brat. They looked on the internet for places within 10 miles where he could go to inquire about small boats. Brat also walked by the docks looking for small boats when he found a local bar near the marina. He and Ron talked about who should go and find any information, Ron wanted to go himself. They were as usual in Ron’s garage. He had set up a sofa, a small table next to an old bar, a couple of wall mounted shelves with four bottles of different liquor drinks. He had an old tv monitor to watch occasionally some sport events.

Ron: ‘look Brat I feel that I should go and find the boat, I know I can do it.’

Brat: ‘bro, I know you can do it, but something tells me that it should not be the same person who looks and finds the boat, and then charters the vessel. Let me say it this way for safety reasons. Just to be cautious.’

Ron: ‘I don’t follow. What are you saying?’

Brat: ‘never mind, just let me go one more time to look and let’s see what I come up with, ok?’

Ron: looked down to the floor, contemplating the words from his friend, then walked to the window and looked outside as if the confirmation for his friend was out there. He noticed a light breeze through the Gracilis bamboo hedges. Took a deep breath and then he said: ‘go for.’

Two days later, Brat walked the small block, where he had seen the bar while he smokes his cigarette, he smiled when he saw the old sign with the fainted fish “Grumpy Fish Bar” Hanging on the side of the old wooden, one story building.

He went inside through the patio seating area with small wrought iron round white tables and white chairs with small blue umbrellas. The double French doors were open, the sound of a country western song was played on the small speakers one on each corner on the wall behind the bartender. Brat looked around and there were few people sitting at couple of tables, then he notices two guys at the bar near the left corner. It was obvious they were seamen. He sat next to the old guys. They were having beers along with cheerful laughs. Brat listened to their conversation, while he orders a tap beer. Jack was reminding his friend Ezra about the time that he (Ezra) was in that old boat with the broken bathroom and Ezra needed to use it kind of urgently, he had no choice, and found a large bucket to take care of business. Ezra laughed and reminded to his friend Jack that just when things appeared to be ok’d the boat took off and things got a bit messy. They both laughed even harder. Brat heard the whole account and could not help to laugh with them. They both stop and turned to Brat to ask: ‘did it happen to you as well?’ Brat felt a bit embarrassed and replied: ‘not really, but could I ask who was driving the boat?’ Ezra turned to Jack to point with his finger: ‘that old bastard’. Jack replied: ‘it was supposed to be a practical joke, nothing more.’

Ezra said,’ we were a lot younger back then.’

After that a short silent pause gave Brat the time to ask for information about a charter boat, I’m looking for a small boat. It turned out that Jack had the phone number of a guy who used to charter his boat on certain days. Brat took the number just in case. He finished his beer and thanked the two old fellows for the good laugh and the number, then he left.

Brat gave to his friend the details and the phone number for the charter boat.

Ron called the number and the person who answer did not sound too friendly. Ron asked about a boat for charter. The other person said, ‘who needs a boat?’

Ron did not want to give the wrong impression and just ask the owner to meet to see the boat. The boat that Ron found was almost ten years old but in great condition.

He had watched an episode of an old show about a boat chase in a river and how the fugitives managed to escape despite having a smaller and slower boat, they simple hide behind some plants and bushes to wait until the bad guys on a bigger boat had gone by far enough to allow the smaller boat to get back to the dock area, tied the boat get in their car and ran away unharmed.

Ron did not know much about boats and when he saw the name of the craft - “The Dream Chaser” he was dreaming. He liked the small motorboat.

Ron walked on the dock and observed the colors of the hull, the deep blue, the contrast with the red and the white as the main color. He thought the name was very appropriate for his project. He came aboard to examine the cockpit and the windshield. He took a quick look at the cab area under deck, opened the small door of the bath, he noticed a slight smell in the air, a residue of a chemical disinfectant. He opened the closet door, inside a small shoe box, forgotten from the previous charter trip. Ron shook the box without opening it, his phone buzzed with a text alert. He set the box right back on the same spot and close the door. Brat had texted Ron asking, “had you seen the boat?” Ron did not answer right away. He continued to check the rest of the boat. He liked the sleeping area. The canopy covers in the main area to provide shield from the sun was rolled up. Ron thought we should not use it; it would be less details in case anyone tries to recall what the boat looks like! A very small fold up ladder is installed in the stern. In the bow a small rail, on top there is an antenna, the bowsprit is painted white. Ron was very careful to not mention any other name or details of his plan to Mack, the boat owner. He asked for a test drive and both men went on a short ride.

Ron asked Mack: ‘do I need some kind of license to charter and operate myself the vessel?’ Mack with a stoical face kept looking straight ahead and said: ‘you don’t really know squat, do you?’

Ron felt stupid and replied: ‘just answer my question.’ He tried very hard to match Mack’s unemotional demeanor.

Mack, then asked: ‘what do you have in mind?’

Ron replied: ‘I need the vessel for...
