English Amateur Champion in 1974, he joined the European Tour two years later and has rarely finished outside the top 20 of the Order of Merit since. In the aftermath of the publication of Into the Bear Pit, Mark resigned as Sam Torrance's right-hand man for the 2002 Ryder Cup at The Belfry.
