Sheffield Wednesday's Class of 1991 were one of the most iconic sides in the club's rich history. For the very first time, '91 tells the inside story of that incredible season from those that were there; from changing ground crisis talks to terrific goals, laughs, tears and beers on the open-top bus.
In May 1990 the unthinkable happened and Sheffield Wednesday were relegated to the second division of English football for the first time in six seasons. Ron Atkinson's talented squad - blessed with the likes of David Hirst, Carlton Palmer, Roland Nilsson and John Sheridan - could go one of two ways; stick together or fall apart. A year later they were back in the big time and holders of the League Cup having beaten Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United at Wembley. The collection of huge characters formed one of the most iconic sides in the club's rich history. For the very first time, '91 tells the inside story of that incredible season from those that were there; from training ground crisis talks to terrific goals, laughs, tears and beers on the open-top bus.

Alex Miller is a Sheffield Wednesday writer for the Sheffield Star newspaper. Covering the Owls home and away, he has slowly but surely fallen in love with the club and '91 is his first book. After realising at a young age he was going to fall a very, very long way short of a career in professional football, he set about getting as close to the action as he possibly could; which meant gaining lawful access to the Press box. A graduate of Leeds Trinity University, where he completed an undergraduate and master's degree in journalism, Alex wrote for newspapers including the Yorkshire Post and Halifax Courier before he was seconded to The Star in 2019. After two months his posting was made permanent and after quickly realising the role covering Sheffield Wednesday was somewhere close to a dream job, he's been humming along to Hi-Ho Silver Lining ever since. In his downtime Alex can be found scrolling Twitter, listening to dodgy indie music and averaging low scores at his beloved Ben Rhydding Cricket Club. He lives in West Yorkshire with his fiancee Naomi and has ambitions to write more books in the future.
