The play was first staged by Black Swan State Theatre Company at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts in May 2009. It won the award for Best New Australian Work at the Sydney Theatre Awards in 2011, and had its UK premiere at Theatre503, London, in November 2017.

Angela Betzien is a multi-award-winning playwright. Her work has been produced widely across Australia and internationally, to critical acclaim. She has also been Playwright on Attachment at the National Theatre Studio.
