A collection of Tomas O'Riain's plays including 'No Room for Heaven', 'O'Brien's Women' and 'Red Biddy'

Tomas O'Riain (RIP 6th March 2016) Playright / Theatrical Producer/Director / Tenor. Tomas was educated at Plas Mhuire C.B.S. Dublin and St. Joseph's College Baldoyle. He learned his stage skills and drama at the Brendan Smith Academy Dublin. He voice trained with Winnie O'Dea to be a tenor. He engaged for many years teaching stage craft to all age groups. This included; singing, voice production, acting and all forms of stage craft. Tomas, a native Irish speaker, was involved with the Irish language since childhood. He was associated with Conradh na Gaeilge, Comhaltas Naisiunta Dramiochta and Scoil an TSeachtar Laoch (Ballymun). Tomas produced, directed and wrote many plays for several drama groups countrywide. But his own drama group `Satellite Theatre Company' was where his imagination ran riot...! After Satellite had staged most of the Irish plays, such as, `Sive', `Big Maggie', `The Field', `The Poker Session', etc. Tomas wrote plays to suit the group so each member had a part/role to play. And every member had to attend every rehearsal, no one got out of it! He was a firm believer in work-shops for drama groups, for bonding, trust and commitment. "Drama groups are a good source of therapy" he would say, "as long as you leave your T.M.E's (Thoughts, Moods, and Emotions) at the door." He was a tough director but the best. "Enjoy, laughter, friendship, loyalty, commitment, love and you'll have a great drama group."
