Born in Breaston, Derbyshire, Michael John Smedley has worked as a manager for such diverse companies as Vauxhall Motors, Rank Xerox and the National Physiotherapy Service. From the age of thirteen he has been a keen club cricketer and is a former chairman and president of Breaston Cricket Club. Now retired he lives in West Bridgford, Nottingham. This is his tenth novel.
