A bold stage adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s beloved coming-of-age adventure story by internationally celebrated playwright Nicolas Billon.
Treasure Island will debut at Stratford, Canada’s most internationally recognized theatre festival.
Based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic book of the same name.
Billion's previous title for Coach House, Butcher, won the 2016 Toronto Theatre Critics Award for best production, the 2016 Prix Rideau for Outstanding Production, and the 2015 Calgary Critics Award for Best New Play.
Billon's previous play Fault Lines won the prestigious Governor General's Award for Drama in 2013.
Billon's 2006 play, The Elephant Song, was developed into a film, starring Xavier Dolan, Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), and Catherine Keener.
Billon's play Greenland (from Fault Lines) premiered at Toronto's SummerWorks Festival, where it won both the Audience Choice and Outstanding Production awards. It was staged at the 2011 New York Fringe Festival, where it made most critics’ “best of” lists and won an Overall Excellence Award for Playwriting.
In 2012, Iceland premiered at the SummerWorks Festival and garnered both the Audience Choice and Best New Play awards, and was subsequently picked up for Factory Theatre’s 2012/13 season.

Nicolas Billon’s plays have been produced across Canada, as well as in New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo. His first play, The Elephant Song, was made into a feature film starring Bruce Greenwood, Xavier Dolan, and Catherine Keener; his latest play, Butcher, is currently in development. Nic’s awards include the Governor-General’s Award for Drama, the Writer’s Guild of Canada Screenwriting Award, the Canadian Screen Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, and an Overall Excellence Award for Playwriting from the NYC Fringe.
