Carrie Stevens (1882-1970) created streamer patterns of fly, including the Gray Ghost to catch trout and salmon in the landlocked Rangeley lakes. This biography is a history of the woman and the region, and includes a list of dressings for more than 100 streamers.
Carrie Stevens (1882-1970) of upper Dam, Maine, created some of the most beautiful and enduring streamer patterns ever, including the legendary Gray Ghost, which she designed to catch the giant brook trout and landlocked salmon of the Rangeley Lakes. This long-awaited book is both a history of the woman and the region, as well as a guide to the Stevens method. It includes colour plates of original patterns, some only recently discovered, along with a biography illustrated with archival photos. The tying section lists dressings for more than 100 streamers, 65 of which have never been published.
