VOICE FOR PERFORMANCE: TRAINING THE ACTOR'S VOICE SECOND EDITION INCL. 2 AUDIO CDS
ÊA complete guide for all who want to make more effective use of their voice.ÊÞ The goal of voice work Linda Gates explains in ÊVoice for Performance Ê is to reveal the mind and soul of the character through the words of the playwright so the audience can both hear and understand. She addresses key elements of voice and speech ä Respiration Vibration Resonation and Articulation ä in a straightforward style and grounds her approach in the elimination of the separation between the actor's voice and speech. She also addresses how this relates to the voice of the actor/singer. For the first time this book is now available in paperback and includes eight hours of exercises with Gates on two companion audio CDs.

Linda Gates is the Head of Voice and Speech at Northwestern University's Department of Theatre, where she teaches voice, speech, dialects, and text. She has worked as a vocal and dialect coach for theater and opera in New York, Chicago, regional theater, the U.K., and Europe, and has worked with the actors and singers Meryl Streep, Plßcido Domingo, John Malkovich, Sigourney Weaver, Rosemary Harris, and Rex Harrison. She lives in Chicago.
