Tattooing has moved in the past decade from the underground subculture it once was to a trendy fad at the turn of the century to now being a full-blown cultural phenomenon. "Permanence" brings together photographic portraits of people's tattoos and the stories behind them, told in the subjects' own words and handwriting. Kip Fulbeck, author of "Part Asian", and "100 per cent Hapa", has brought together an incredibly diverse group of tattoos, stories, and people - including a large handful of celebrities. From joyful to tragic, and impulsive to profound, "Permanence" presents the myriad voices, emotions, and faces that make up the stories of the tattooed population today.
