Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow is a three-movement work by Bob Chilcott, exploring the concepts of reflecting on the past, living in the present, and not worrying about the future. The words, by Georgia Way, were written with children in mind, and are inspired by a translated Sanskrit text used in Chilcott's 1998 piece Look to this day!: 'Look to this day! For today well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, every tomorrow a vision of hope'. Way's poems translate the idea of the Sanskrit text into a striking and contemporary message, bringing the energy and joy of youth to the fore.
Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow was written for the 2023 Crescent City Choral Festival and commissioned by the New Orleans Children's Chorus and their Director, Cheryl Dupont.

Bob Chilcott has been involved with choral music all his life, first as a Chorister and then a Choral Scholar at King's College, Cambridge. Later, he sang and composed music for 12 years with the King's Singers. His experiences with that group, his passionate commitment to young and amateur choirs, and his profound belief that music can unite people, have inspired him both to compose full-time and, through proactive workshopping, to promote choral music worldwide.
