Although this book's geographic direction - in terms of north to south coverage - is fairly typical of many scenic books about New Zealand, the 120-plus images depicted in this glorious collection are anything but typical. The composition and the colours in particular are stunningly original, creating a 'private view' of New Zealand as seen through the lens of this distinctive photographer. Although New Plymouth-based Fay Looney came to photography later in life than many, she has quickly made a name for herself as one of the country's foremost scenic photographers; her first book was First Light Last Light. Recently, her work was endorsed by none other than Tom Cruise while he was filming The Last Samurai in Taranaki.
