Full of surprises and insights, Souvenir of Canada presents us as we have never seen ourselves before in an irresistible flow of text and image.
Though his bestselling novels are in print in some 30 countries around the world, Coupland's accomplishments as a visual artist are less well-known. This book, which features his evocative still lifes and found objects, speaks to this notable parallel career. Coupland writes about Canada in a way no one else has - with prescient observations, and the uncanny ability to explain a culture by sorting through its detritus. Featuring contemporary design and 50 colour photos, Souvenir of Canada is a smart and darkly whimsical gift book; its complex nostalgia will resonate with anyone who has traveled to, or lived in, Canada.

Douglas Coupland was born on a Canadian NATO base in Baden-Sollingen, Germany, and raised in West Vancouver. Among his best-selling books are Generation X, Generation A, jPod, Polaroids from the Dead, Microserfs, Miss Wyoming and City of Glass, altogether in print in some 40 countries. Less well known is the fact that he is a graduate of the Emily Carr School of Art and Design in Vancouver and that his ongoing design experiments include everything from launching a line of furniture to Smirnoff vodka ads. He also exhibits his sculpture and furniture collections around the world.
