This pioneering study focuses on the decisive contributions of the three leading artists of the Northern Renaissance--Albrecht Drer, Lucas Cranach the Elder, and Hans Holbein the Younger-- to the printed Bible and to the transformation of ecclesiastical art in the Protestant Reformation.
