Die mexikanische Künstlerin FRIDA KAHLO (1907–1954) steht für eine der bedeutendsten Positionen in der Malerei des 20. Jahrhunderts. Ihre Bilder vereinen Elemente des Surrealismus mit Einflüssen aus der Volkskunst Lateinamerikas, lassen aber ebenso Einflüsse der Neuen Sachlichkeit durchscheinen.
