Ophthalmic Imaging serves as a reference for the practicing ophthalmic imager. Ophthalmic imaging combines photography and diagnostic imaging to provide insight into not only the health of the eye, but also the health of the human body as a whole. Ophthalmic photographers are specialists in imaging through and in the human eye, one of the only parts of the body where the circulation and nervous system is visible non-invasively. With technical perspective as context, this book will provide instructional techniques as well as the background needed for problem solving in this exciting field. The book covers all aspects of contemporary ophthalmic imaging and provides image support to ophthalmologists and sub-specialties including retinal specialists, corneal specialists, neuro-ophthalmologists, and ocular oncologists. This text serves as a reference for the practicing ophthalmic imager, or to imagers just getting started in the field.

Christye Sisson is an Associate Professor of Photographic Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology, teaching various biomedical photography courses and ophthalmic photography courses. She is Chair of the Photographic Sciences program at RIT, and is the Ronald and Mabel Francis Endowed Professor. She holds a Visiting Faculty appointment at the Flaum Eye Institute, part of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester. In this role, she was a past Interim Director of Ophthalmic Imaging, which included oversight of the department's Fundus Imaging Reading Center. Sisson is involved in several research projects, and is the Principal Investigator for a government-sponsored project in media forensics (Project Medifor/Medisphere). She is also involved in TeleICARE, a tele-ophthalmology initiative in Rochester and surrounding areas, remote sensing/photographic sciences collaboration to detect and quantify psoriasis through imaging, automated retinal image quality analysis and disease detection, and well as conducting research in color variability in retinal fundus photography. She has given many lectures for the OPS, including workshops in color management in ophthalmology as well as many other evolving imaging and information technology topics. She has hosted the OPS’s CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer) Exam for several years, acting as both site coordinator and examiner. She is a past member of the OPS Board of Certification, which oversees the certification and administration of the Certified Retinal Angiographer’s exam and activities. Sisson holds a Master’s Degree in Information Technology, a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Photographic Communications, and is a Certified Retinal Angiographer.
