Cecil Aldin is regarded as Britain's greatest illustrator of animals, this collections features two of his favourite subjects: his dogs Cracker and Mickey.

Cracker was a special dog. He had a comical face with a black patch over one eye and became the favorite companion and professional model for Cecil Aldin. Cracker s friend, Micky, was another model, an Irish wolfhound that was reputed to be the third largest dog in Britain. Aldin made many drawings of them, captioning them with one word under each picture. His paintings of Cracker became so popular that when Cracker died the Evening Standard ran an obituary of this much-loved dog.
