The author gives aspiring singers helpful advice and industry tips, simplifying the necessities to make it in the industry.
This is an insightful read into the many aspects singers encounter when they embark into the music industry. There's helpful advice on all aspects of the industry, from performance and song writing to social media and distribution. Written by music consultant Chris Grayston who has used his vast experience in the industry as an events director, music promoter, manager, record label owner, song writer, producer, publisher and record studio owner. He's worked with Sony Music, ITV, X Factor and The Voice to name a few.

Chris Grayston is a freelance music consultant for aspiring singers and acts and is also employed regularly as an A&R scout by Sony Music Entertainment and Thames television. A&R music consultant Chris has seen more unsigned acts than anyone else in the music industry and his eye for under the radar talent in the UK is undeniable. Seeing over 75,000 acts perform all over the UK means Chris's knowledge, insight and enthusiasm is second to none. Chris is now one of the most intuitive and experienced talent scouts in the country. Chris has either co-managed, signed to record labels or discovered acts such as Birdy, Karen Harding, Jacob Banks, Lucy Spraggan and Luke Friend all of whom had success first in the Future Music competitions before getting signed to major record labels. Music Consultant Chris has also been responsible for finding and developing new artists for Sony Music and Thames Television working on sucessful shows such as The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. Chris began his career as a music promoter, organising tours and events for some of the UK's most recognised dance acts including Darren Styles, Carl Cox, Andy C, Radio 1's DJ Judge Jules, Spoony, Fabio and Grooverider. His sell-out events, including a packed Wembley Arena with over 12,000 music fans and in more recent times the festival Live Fest at The O2 which included acts such as Zane Lowe, Tinchy Stryder, Roll Deep, Kids in Glass Houses, Stooshe, The Hoosiers, and Funeral for a Friend. A&R Music Consultant After such a successful and credible run in the events industry, resulted in Chris being approached by an act to release their tracks, instigating the creation of his own record label Hectic Records. Rapidly evolving into four labels, Hectic Records quickly became known as one of the biggest dance labels in the country, boasting in excess of a 100 singles, over a million sales across the group and releasing over ten compilations and albums. Chris Grayston has also written and co-produced his own music, signing with major labels in territories across the globe including Sony Music in Europe, Elap, Central Station Records and achieved a top 5 in the national charts in Australia and in America with New York based label Pacific Time. This culminated in chart success and a soundtrack deal for the comedy Blockbuster Grown Ups. Grayston's CV also boasts collaborations with influential acts and producers all over the UK from SL2 (On a Ragga Tip) to The Wide Boys (who recently remixed Sugababes and Rhianna).
