Cees Nooteboom wurde 1933 in Den Haag geboren. Der Romanautor, Lyriker und Reiseschriftsteller zählt heute zu den international renommiertesten europäischen Schriftstellern. Sein vielbeachtetes, preisgekröntes Werk umfasst zahlreiche Bücher, die wiederholt auf den Besten- und Bestsellerlisten auftauchen. 2010 wird ihm der Literaturpreis der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung verliehen. Mit der Auszeichnung wird die politisch und kulturell europäische Dimension in seinem Gesamtwerk gewürdigt. Cees Nooteboom lebt in Amsterdam und auf Menorca.
