A must-have for anyone with a home by the water, as Carlton Varney offers decorating advice and inspirational ideas, and features gorgeous images of private homes and villas in exotic locations.
Carleton Varney turns his decorating vision towards the water in his most recent tome, Decorating on the Waterfront. Here, he gathers stunning images of new design projects in this collection of inspirational stories that use motifs and colours from years by the shore. Growing up on the Massachusetts coast influenced his penchant for bright cheerful colour schemes and warm polished interiors that exude luxury living today. Varney continues to live near the ocean and decorates for clients on the waterfront from Palm Beach, Florida to the shores of Lake Huron, Michigan. This book brings into focus Varney's career-long journey to bring elements and inspirations from the world around us to life at home.

Carleton Varney is President of Dorothy Draper & Co. Inc., an interior design firm that specializes in the interiors for the hospitality industry. The company's projects include continuing renovations at the Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia and at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, as well as the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Dorothy Draper & Co. Inc. is one of the oldest operating decorating firms in America with offices in New York, Palm Beach, Florida and White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Mr. Varney is a lecturer, author of 30 books, as well as a television personality. He was the design consultant to the White House during the Carter administration and to the Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta. He was also design consultant for the Vice President's residence in Washington during the George Bush administration.
