Peter Magubane is an acclaimed photographer who has published many books on the people and events of South Africa. His work appears in magazines and other printed media all over the world, and he has won numerous awards and wide-spread recognition. Among the 14 books he has had published are Vanishing Cultures of South Africa and African Renaissance, both published by Struik Publishers. He lives in Melville, Johannesburg. The text is by Charlene Smith, a well known journalist. She is also the author of Robben Island and Mandela, both published by Struik Publishers. She lives in Greenside, Johannesburg.
