Apocalypse documents, reproduces and interpets the Apocalypse cycle in the Great East Window of York Minster, Britain's largest expanse of medieval stained glass
Apocalypse reproduces the Apocalypse Cycle of the Great East Window of York Minster in its entirety and in full colour for the very first time. Stunning photography presents each panel in detail, accompanied by expert commentary.

The book is both a testament to the remarkable combination of skill, scholarship and cutting-edge technology that has gone into the conservation of the window, and an important study of the significance of the Apocalypse narrative both in the early 15th century and today.

Sarah Brown is Director of the York Glaziers Trust, a lecturer in History of Art at the University of York, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and chairman of the British Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi (the international corpus of medieval window glass). She is currently overseeing the conservation of York Minster's Great East Window, part of York Minster Revealed, a conservation and interpretation project made possible by the generous funding of the Heritage Lottery Fund

A brief history of the window; John Thornton and the original commission; the Apocalypse imagery; the conservation programme; the Apocalypse in the New Testament and the Church today; catalogue of the panels
