This volume is the story of a fly-fisherman's dream come true - the worldwide journey of a lifetime to experience the world's most fabulous - often very remote - fly-fishing destinations. The combination of text and photography is a tribute to the ancient mystique of the sport.
This magnificently illustrated, utterly unique book is the extraordinary story of a fly-fisherman's dream come true - the world-wide journey of a lifetime to experience the world's most fabulous - often very remote - fly-fishing destinations. Lyrically written by young American fishing enthusiast, Alexander Taylor, the evocative text is complemented by superb special photography by Beverly and Peter Pickford. As a tribute to Nature and the outdoors, and to the ancient mystique of fly-fishing The Longest Cast is destined to become a timeless classic.

Alexander Taylor won the Stuart O. Chase Award for Creative Literature at Vanderbilt University. A keen fisherman from childhood, his royalties from the book will be donated to the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) for the preservation of endangered fishing sanctuaries. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Peter and Beverly Pickford are prize-winning photographers who work regularly for National Geographic Magazine. Their work appears in prestige books, including Miracle Rivers, Fly-fishing in Southern Africa and African Birds of Prey. Past winners of the Agfa Wildlife Photographer of the Year award, they are based in South Africa.
