Lil Wayne was born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. on the 27th of September in 1982 and grew up in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. He wrote his first rap song at age eight and met Birdman born Bryan Williams in 1991. Lil Wayne recorded his first ever collaboration album True Story for Cash Money Records with rapper B.G. at the age of 11 while B.G. was 14. Lil Wayne reached higher popularity in 2004 with Tha Carter but his most successful album remains Tha Carter III which was released in 2008 and sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. in its first week of release.
