bush brings on an encounter with all sorts of creepy crawlies… and some even
less friendly critters!
Playing on rhyme
and sound, “A Butterfly
Fluttered by My Eye” explores the
perils of the Australian bush through the perspective of an over-inquisitive
child who has wondered where they shouldn’t. A clever mix of cautionary and
delightful, this story serves to immerse readers in adventure, while learning
some key safety tips along the way.
Bold printed
illustrations capture the sense of excitement, wonder… and danger too…
Cheryl Chivers was born in Grafton, NSW, Australia on the mighty Clarence River. Surrounded by amazing floodplains, gorges, beaches, wetlands and rainforests, Cheryl developed a keen interest in environmental conservation. By studying Environmental Education, Children’s Literature and Storytelling, Cheryl was able to integrate her interest with her career in teaching and her love of writing. Since retirement, Cheryl now resides on a bush block near the sea which she shares with her husband and a variety of native animals. Claire Westwood currently lives in Sussex, England. Using mixed media, Claire creates emotional expressions of spontaneous inspiration, with dreamlike, imagined scenes. Using colour as a main feature, her work is said to be ethereal with a story to be told. Claire studied Art at university and has a postgraduate degree in illustration. Her experience ranges from fine art, book and magazine illustration to logos, web design and advertising.
