My Hair is as Long as a River is a joyful story celebrating the power of being confident in yourself, encouraging children to champion each other’s differences with empathy and love.
My Hair is as Long as a River is a joyful celebration of being proud of who you are, from debut picture book creators Charlie Castle and Emma Farrarons.

People don’t always understand the boy with long hair. But he knows that his hair is a part of who he is and who he can be - soft and strong, wild and still, fierce and gentle. It can be as long as a river, as steep as a waterfall and as fierce as a tempest. It's a drawbridge to rescue a Prince, and a rope to escape from a dragon!

Step into an extraordinary world of imagination and adventure, and discover the magic of being unique.

Charlie Castle holds a BA in English Language and Literature from King’s College, London, and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge. He is an editor of children's books at one of the big five publishers, as well as being a poetry anthologist and an author of books for both adults and children including My Hair is as Long as a River. He loves cheese, cake and afternoon tea (preferably all three). He lives in Cambridgeshire. Born in the tropical island of the Philippines, Emma Farrarons studied illustration at The Edinburgh College of Art. After graduating, she worked over 16 years as a picture book designer at one of the big five publishers. She is now living her dream as an illustrator. Emma finds inspiration and ideas from her location drawing sketchbooks where she loves capturing everyday life and people interacting. She lives in leafy South London with her family.
