A beautiful edition of Lewis Carroll's beloved poem, featuring illustrations by Chris Riddell, 2015–2017 Children's Laureate and author of the Goth Girl and Ottoline series.
From the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll's magnificent nonsense poem The Hunting of the Snark features an unlikely cast of characters drawn from the pages of Alice's second adventure, Through the Looking Glass.
This irresistible version is introduced and illustrated by Kate Greenaway Medal-winning author of the Goth Girl and Ottoline series, Chris Riddell.
A hunting party has come to the island of the Snark! There's a Bellman, a Boots, a maker of Bonnets and Hoods, a Barrister, a Broker, a Billiard-marker, a Banker, a Beaver, a Baker and a Butcher – who can only kill beavers. They've made their way to the island: a place of the jubjub and the bandernatch, and even the jabberwock. And, after the Bellman gives clear warning of the dangers ahead, the hunt begins . . .
They sought it with thimbles, they sought it with care;
They pursued it with forks and hope;
They threatened its life with a railway-share;
They charmed it with smiles and soap.
First published by Macmillan more than 150 years ago, Lewis Carroll’s iconic work has been loved and enjoyed by generations of children the world over.
