These stories are available for free as public animations on YouTube as well as purchasable as picture books.The primary aim of Visual Patient Education is to make knowledge available to anyone in such a way that it is understandable and suitable for people of all ages and level of intelligence. In order to achieve this goal, knowledge is transferred using cartoon characters. At the same time, there is not one all-encompassing form of visual education. It is often a combination of imaging techniques that tell the entire story for each individual project.

Ronald van Rheenen is a nuclear medicine physician. His primary (healthcare) task is to review and provide reporting of medical imaging examinations. He believes that the basic medical knowledge should be a common good, so that doctors and patients can communicate on a more equal level. To facilitate this view, he works primarily with visual communication, because a picture transcending language regardless of one's ages, races and social classes. Floris de Jonge is a graphic designer, illustrator and teacher of art and design. He has worked as a freelance designer for a few years for a variety of clients. His goal is to present complex information in an attractive and understandable way to visually rely the central message and so aim for clear communication.
