This volume seeks to build a bridge between theoretical and practical issues in art education. The theoretical areas consider such "big" questions as: why teach art?; and how does art relate to other subjects? The practical areas draw out the implications of the answers given to the theoretical questions. Each chapter sheds new light on questions such as "why is teaching and learning in art worthwhile?" while examining different topics in art education from a number of perspectives. The reader will also be informed as to the implications for classroom practice.
